Associate attorney Chris Brown focuses primarily on representing individuals in civil litigation matters ranging from wrongful death, personal injury, sexual abuse, and all other general tort actions. Mr. Brown brings years of legal experience to White Law PLLC’s litigation team.
Mr. Brown graduated from Michigan State University, studied abroad in Ukraine, and received his law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida, where he was formally trained in trial advocacy under Third District Court of Appeal Chief Judge David M. Gersten. Mr. Brown won the 2008 Florida statewide Florida Justice Association Trial Competition as well as the “Best Student” awards for Evidence, Trial Advocacy, and Mock Trial. Upon graduating, he served as adjunct faculty for the trial team at St. Thomas University School of Law and practiced insurance defense litigation at a prominent law firm in Miami, Florida until 2017. In this position, he defended companies and individuals in civil lawsuits involving complex spinal injuries, traumatic brain injuries, wrongful death, premises liability, and general personal injury. Mr. Brown has handled several high-profile cases both in Michigan and Florida. Having represented insurance companies gives Mr. Brown a unique, “insider” perspective. He brings his litigation experience, industry knowledge, and passion to fight for those who cannot. Mr. Brown is licensed to practice law in all state courts for both Michigan and Florida.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Brown is a Certified Continuing Education Instructor and gives presentations around the country to various insurance companies regarding personal injury litigation and case evaluation. In 2018, Mr. Brown was selected by the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section to attend England’s Southeastern Circuit Court’s International Advanced Trial Advocacy Conference at Keble College in Oxford, England. Finally, Mr. Brown sits on various non-profit boards and is especially passionate about of the arts and animal rights.
Mr. Brown, a Michigan native, moved back to Michigan in 2019 and joined White Law PLLC. In his free time, Mr. Brown enjoys hiking, kayaking, hunting, playing golf, opera, traveling, and cooking with his wife, a local physician.
Represented over 50 victims in Florida, many with minor children, in a high-profile case where the residents fell victim to an elaborate scam which rendered each of them homeless. Mr. Brown aggressively pursued the at-fault company and promptly secured housing for every person and family, as well as financial compensation.
Secured a six-figure settlement for the driver of a vehicle that was struck in the side by a truck traveling 60+ MPH and was hospitalized for over a month with several broken bones and surgeries.
Secured a six-figure settlement in an employment discrimination case where Mr. Brown’s client, an air traffic controller, was denied a reasonable accommodation for his disability by his employer and was later unlawfully fired.
Secured a confidential settlement amount in excess of $100,000.00 for a minor child that was physically assaulted on a school bus and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Obtained Final Judgement against Plaintiff where Plaintiff tripped and fell at a condominium building owned, operated and maintained by Mr. Brown’s insured corporate client. Plaintiff suffered a broken hip that required surgery with hardware. At oral argument, the Court expanded Florida’s Open and Obvious Doctrine and the related landlord’s duty to warn and maintain. In addition to getting the case dismissed with prejudice, Mr. Brown obtained a judgment entitling his client for its attorney’s fees and costs.
Obtained a defense verdict in a seven-day jury trial where Plaintiff alleged permanent brain injuries caused by an assault where Plaintiff lost consciousness and suffered a concussion. At trial, Plaintiff asked the jury for $6.5 Million. Instead, Plaintiff got charged with Mr. Brown’s client’s attorney’s fees and costs.
